International Law

The lecture is only for Arabic speakers

The International Humanitarian Law (IHL) lectures and courses are part of the jobs of the International Relations and IHL Section at Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), which include informing QRCS members and volunteers about IHL, promoting IHL among members of government organizations and NGOs, providing legal advising for QRCS’s leadership and departments on IHL-related issues, and enhancing QRCS’s legal vision and role in this respect, including the adoption of legal instruments associated with QRCS and IHL.

This reflects QRCS’s development and growing role in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, as well as in response to the conditions created by arising armed conflicts around the world. IHL comprises a set of rules stipulated by the Geneva Conventions 1949 and their Additional Protocols, in addition to other diverse international treaties. It restricts the means and methods used in war, with a view to maintaining a balance between military necessity and humanitarian considerations. Its provisions require that all persons who do not take part, or who have ceased to take part, in hostilities shall be protected and treated humanely.
